What is really an oracle?
After the publication of my book The Toltec Oracle and also after the launch of its online version, I have been asked if an oracle can be something real or if it is just a trick for gullible minds. I think it is a good question that deserves to be pondered..
Unless you are a fan of esotericism , may be the word ” oracle ” makes you think of a supposed divination tool , or even as a hoax. It is also possible that you do not know what an oracle is, but most likely the word “oracle” do not convey the idea of something serious or real.
I say this because I had a similar idea on this topic..
I have never been very prone to esoteric themes, because I have always preferred what I can try and experience for myself, instead of those ideas that depend on faith or some kind of belief.
Nevertheless, Oracles have been part of the spiritual traditions of humanity, from the famous Oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece, to the Toltec Oracle of Teotihuacán or the oracles that continue to exist among the indigenous peoples of Africa, Asia and the rest of the world.
But what really is an oracle?? Can an oracle provide any real benefit to non-believers or even skeptical people?? Is it necessary to be a “believer” to be able to consult an oracle and obtain something valuable from it?
Let us first consider that the word Oracle has several meanings., depending on the context. In general, it is understood as something or someone who is consulted regarding important matters of our lives.. can be a book, a physical space, an object or a person that connects the questions to the oracle with some kind of divinity or source of deep knowledge and provides answers to those questions.
In its most superficial expression, Oracles are often thought of as a way of predicting the future. Nevertheless, a more serious and realistic approach, would reveal to us that an authentic oracle does not operate from the prediction of future events, but through helping those who consult it to look at the past and the present of their life in a clearer way. This clearer perception can help us to understand - and from that understanding- anticipate and modify the course of events in our lives. Its purpose is to deliberately and responsibly shape our present and future. a good oracle, we must find meaning and direction for our life.
Like the skeptic I've been all my life, I can tell you with absolute confidence that there are authentic oracles for people with demanding criteria who are interested in their internal development..
And if, It is also true that there are false and superficial oracles aimed at the naive who dream of finding someone who can predict the future for them.. The motivation behind this expectation is the fantasy of being able to escape the fact that we have come to life to make decisions in the midst of mystery.. And not; we can't escape that reality, which is actually not a bad thing, but it seems threatening to us because of our unhealthy relationship with the mystery.
Fake oracles seem conducive to superficial and irrelevant questions and provide superficial and ineffective answers. We are not interested in it.
in reverse, an authentic oracle does not pretend to divine the future, Rather, it is a self-knowledge tool based on ancestral knowledge and which, in practice, works as a mirror of the soul.. This mirror helps us to examine the significant issues in our lives from a broader and deeper perspective., beyond the limitations of our mind, so often dominated by the obsessions of our ego.
Another way to describe a real oracle is as a sacred space in which we can reflect and look at ourselves and our lives from the perspective of ancient wisdom developed over thousands of years., but which remains alive because of the strength and consistency on which it has been built.
The Toltec Oracle is one of those authentic oracles, built on the basis of the deep spiritual and psychological principles for the evolution of the human soul, discovered and developed by the ancient Toltecs and Mayans.
Its modern version arises from my own research on the most important philosophical and psychological principles of the Tlamatinime. (men and women of knowledge among the Toltecs ) for the development of the soul and on the operating principles of the universe that most influence our daily life.
The spiritual thought of the Toltec sages did not try to predict the future, but focused on recognizing, integrate and embrace the mystery of life. His motivation was to learn to navigate that mystery in the most efficient and joyful way..

Although its roots stem from deep philosophy and spirituality, it is completely focused on what we can do through concrete actions in our real life..
